Coach Derks is running the Chicago Marathon- Support Team One Step

Saturday, July 5 2014

Dear PNXC Runners, Families and Friends,

On October 12, 2014, I will be running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. I am running this race not just for myself, but in support of Team One Step, the racing team for Children's Oncology Services, Inc.

Children's Oncology Services, Inc. believes that a diagnosis of cancer should not prevent a child from enjoying the simple joys of childhood. Through their One Step Programs, they offer camps and other educational and adventure experiences that allow children with cancer to enjoy a week of carefree fun with kids who understand. One Step Programs cure the spirit of children with cancer by providing an environment of hope, strength, and empowerment.

The Plainfield North High School Boys Track team started supporting Team One Step in 2014 by donating $500 of the Fast Cat 5k/10k proceeds to Team One Step.  I am a firm believer in Team One Step's mission, and running the Chicago Marathon for them gives me another avenue to help support Team One Step.

During my training for the Chicago Marathon, I will also be raising $1,000, the cost of sending a child to a One Step program for one week. I hope that you will consider supporting my efforts by making a tax-deductible donation to Team One Step today. The easiest way to donate is to visit my online fundraising page at:

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Coach Andy Derks
