PN Distance Crew Highlights-  PNTRACK.COM Invite-  March 10, 2012

4x800-  1st place!

Mike Delaney had a great comeback race this week-  ran a 2:07 split bringing the team from 4th place to first place w/ a 15-metere lead!  Dan, Richie, and Dominic all ran solid legs as well to give the 4x8 it’s first win of the season!

This was a coming out party for several of our young runners.  Tim Schrank continues his stellar 1st season of high school track by shattering his PR and won his heat (4th overall) in 11:12!  Tim continues to run with confidence and his hard work throughout the fall and winter is starting to pay off!

Jack Malec and Ben Wolendowski also ran big PR’s-  Jack 11:26, Ben 11:32.  Malec continues to stay consistent and make huge improvements from last year.  Ben W. ran a very gutsy race, and made a great tactical move mid-race to go from middle of the pack to up front pushing the lead!  It was GREAT to see one of our guys make a strong, decisive move like that-  it is risky, but shows that Ben is a true competitor and wants to win!  And, it paid off with a big PR.

Also noteworthy was PN Distance co-Captain Sean Bruyere.  In what has been an injury-filled year that would cause most people to quit, Sean has patiently and methodically worked to regain his fitness.  He is a team leader, and this was a great step forward for him-  His time of 11:37, while not a PR, is a great starting point for his 2012 campaign, and now that he is healthy I expect big things from Sean throughout the outdoor season!

Old men Dan W. and Richie R. ran season best times, with Dan running 4:45 and placing 2nd behind super-freshman Jonathan Suarez from Plainfield East.  Richie took 10 seconds off of his season best to run 4:50.  These two guys are well on their way to having breakthrough seasons!

PN Distance Crew’s soccer connection Adam Bruyere (2:22.3)  and Thomas DeVaux 2:21.4) both ran season solid races.  These two have jumped right in this winter/spring and made an immediate impact.  Adam is proving to be a huge addition to our already strong freshman distance group, and Thomas is determined to regain his old form and make an impact on the varsity level.
